Hawaii Private Investigator Licensing Requirements

The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Professional and Vocational Licensing issues private investigator licenses in Hawaii. Applicants must be 18-years or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and pass a criminal background check.

Candidates must also have at least four years of fulltime investigational work experience either under the supervision of a licensed private detective, as a police officer, or as an investigator with a government agency.
