South Carolina Private Investigator Licensing Requirements

Private detective licenses in South Carolina are issued by the State Law Enforcement Division. An applicant must be at least 21-years-old, have a high school diploma or GED, be a U.S. citizen, be of good moral character, and have no felony convictions or convictions of moral turpitude.

Private investigator licensing candidates must also have two years of supervisor or administrator experience in industrial security with a licensed security business, or as a member of a sworn government law enforcement agency.
